Identify whether there is an issue
If the table of contents for your document displays no page numbers across from the titles, this may be for one of the following reasons:
- The document contains an error that prevents the PDF from being generated completely and the page numbers from appearing in the table of contents.
- The document contains no errors, but the table of contents template does not include the page numbers displayed across from the titles selected
The document contains an error
If an error is preventing the PDF from being generated correctly, after you click on 'Export' this error message will appear at the top right-hand side of your page:

Once the error(s) has(have) been corrected, the page numbers should appear across from the titles in the table of contents.
The document contains no errors
It is possible to export the PDF and have no error messages appear, yet the titles shown in the table of contents still have no page numbers.
In this case, what’s most likely is that you have not selected the correct title level for the information to display in the table of contents.
To identify the title levels that can display a page number in the table of contents, you may carry out the following actions:
- Click
to open the display options.
- Select the following options:
- Once all the titles display in the left-hand panel, identify all the levels included in your document
- In the word processor, at the table of contents, tick each title level you have identified
- In the left menu, click on
- Open the PDF file generated and review thetable of contents.
If none of the levels selected displays the corresponding page number, please get in touch with your administrator who will be able to give you more information about your graphic layout.
