Finding out the overall size of a document
To know the overall size of your document, you just need to export it as a PDF:
- On the left menu, click on
- A PDF link will be generated for each notebook included in your document.
- The number of pages and the total size (in megabytes) of each notebook in the document is shown next to the links generated.
Finding out the combined size of a certain medium in a section
To determine which parts of your document might need optimizing for size, you can analyze the combined size for a medium for each section of your document. These media include visuals and PDF attachments.
- In the left-hand menu, you have the choice of clicking on the Outline tab or the Format tab.
- Click on the icon
at the top right of your editor to display the media weight.
- The page then displays media weight indicators. The total media weight of the document is shown at the top right of the page:
- Beside each section, a meter indicates the size of the media contained in that section.
Finding out the size for each medium
Once you’ve identified the largest sections of your document, you can focus on them in the editor for a more detailed analysis.
- Click on 'Edition' to return to the word processor.
- In the left-hand panel, click the title of the section that you would like to see analyzed.
- In the word processor, scroll through the pages until you see the first non-text portion in the section.
- Click on it to display the editing options: the size is shown at the top.
In the examples below, we can see the size of a PDF attachment and an image.
Optimizing document size
If these images (etc.) are from your personal space, you can optimize them yourself using the appropriate tools.
If you are a 'Knowledge Base manager', you can optimize the visuals and PDF attachments for the groups in which you have the rights.
As needed, you can use one of the following tools:
- To reduce the size of your images without losing quality: https://tinyjpg.com/
- To reduce the size of your PDF attachments: https://www.pdf2go.com/fr/redimensionner-pdf
Once the files are optimized, you can reimport them to your personal space and update those resources.
