An internal link allows you to point from one part of your document to another part of the same document using hypertext links. This allows the reader to be directed to a reference within the same document.
You can only link to text within a paragraph block.
How do I add an internal link to my text?
In a paragraph block, select the text you want to link to, then click the tool Link : .
In the pop-in window that appears, check Internal Link.
The text you selected will now appear in the first field. If you didn't make a selection earlier, you'll need to enter text associated with the link in this field.
In the next field, a drop-down menu shows you the entire existing structure of your document. Here you can select
- a title level (section, chapter, subchapter, topic)
or
- the table of contents or the contact page (if inserted in your document)
or
- a PDF attachment.
Once you've selected your reference, click Insert and your internal link will appear above the linked text, which will be underlined and colored.
How do I change an internal link embedded in my text?
To modify, open or delete an internal link, click on it in the paragraph block.
The following pop-up window will appear:
Make your changes in the appropriate fields before clicking Modify.
The Open function reloads the browser page, which then opens to the part of your document you selected as the link.
The Delete function removes the link, leaving the text intact.
How will the internal link appear in my document?
Since your link is associated with the text, you may notice that it already appears clickable in the editor.
To avoid being redirected to the link when editing a document, clicking here will only open the paragraph block.
When your document is exported as a PDF, you'll find the internal link associated with the text, underlined or squared and colored:
The reader can then click on the link to consult the reference directly in the same document.
NB:
- A partial export of your document does not include the internal links.
- Modifying or moving a title does not break the internal link(s) referring to it.
- When a title / PDF attachment is archived or deleted, its internal link is automatically deleted.
- It is not possible to create an internal link from a table, image, or PDF attachment.
- When the reader consults the internal link, there is no return to the part consulted.
- If you check 'No partitions' in the export options and a link was associated with a partition title (section), the internal link to it is automatically deleted.
- When embedding KB content that contains an internal link to a title level that does not exist in the document in which the content is embedded, the internal link is retained, but the link destination is empty (it can be modified).
